Welcome to Super Spiritual
Super Spiritual is a site dedicated to showing the state of religious diversity within the comic book industry. It examines comics in all of their forms, from your standard "floppy" comic books, to comic strips in news papers. Religion is a hot button issue within American society, and this has always bled into the American media. The comic industry is absolutely no different. This has been the case since the inception of comics. However, it has not always been as overt as it is today. Today entire comic books are being based on religion, and miniature comics are being used as evangelism tools.
Submit a Religious Suggestion
The content developers of Super Spiritual host a segment on the radio station The Life. On saturdays, Super Spiritual hosts a thirty-minute segment talking about comic books, religion, and how comics relate to the current climate of American life. Under the Suggestion tab, you can submit a suggestion for a possible religion of a particular hero. If the suggestion is good enough, it will go into part of our weekly segment, which could plant some ideas in the head of a comic writer! Who Believes What?
Head on over to the Popular Heroes tab to see what the most popular heroes (and villains) of our time believe, when this was revealed, and even an excerpt from the comic itself about what that moment looked like! This will be updated regularly with the most popular heroes are currently, so check in regularly to see if your favorite has made the list!
The Moments That Matter
Sometimes the religion of a comic book super hero is a small side bar comment, other times it is a massive moment for the development of the character that thoroughly alters their personality for issues to come. Under the Moments tab, Super Spiritual likes to show off the most interesting and influential of these moments. Sometimes a religious affiliation plays a central role in a character, other times the religion was not expected, and still other times it simply changed the character forever. Super Spiritual has captured these moments under the Moments tab.
